Get on Up!
This project grew out of a course cross listed with Design Science and Engineering. My team included three engineers and three designers/researchers. We worked closely with an amputee support group to identify day to day challenges and consider ways to address those challenges. We designed and built Get on Up!, an ottoman that contains a chair lift inside. Get on Up! helps amputees get down to the ground and back up again, supporting them as they perform tasks around the home.
Our final report included our contextual inquiry results, affinity wall report, personas, market analysis, survey results, concept development and selection summary, competitive analysis, feasibility study, user interface design, design for testing, design for environment, design for manufacturing, product failure modes and effects, cost model, profit model, conjoint analysis, financial forecast and market value proposition.
