REPORT RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Form a temporary ad hoc committee that includes Pre-Op, OR, and PACU nurses, FWR clerks, and doctors. 2) Design family care cards that include accurate and consistent estimates for wait times for each surgery. 3) Allow Nurses to page family members directly in certain situations and introduce cross-training between subunits. 4) Consider hiring liaisons who would circulate between the family waiting room, the FWR front desk, Pre-Op, and PACU. 5) Provide specific training for FWR clerks on the psychological aspects of their job. 6) Give families detailed information about where and how the pager works. 7) Consider hiring IT Consultants to consolidate various systems. 8) Create a wheelchair accessible consult room and a designated fasting area in the that aspect of his work compelling on many levels. Smith is known for her commitment to the handwritten word, so using a script type over an image felt like a powerful fusion of these two artists' aesthetics. I played with many versions of logos for Smith, and changed them in these iterations. I liked the tension between script and stencil typefaces--one very fluid, the other more rigid. The stencil typeface is also a nod to Smith's own use of the typeface on the wall of her room at the Chelsea Hotel. The Composer redesign will significantly reduce points of friction that keep current users from doing this work within the system. When e benchmark again after the redesign we expect these numbers to go down. In contrast to our Newspaper clients, it is likely that some of this truly is clients starting and completing work within Composer—Broadcast clients often have routine publications online that are simplified versions of what has been broadcast. These can be turned around quickly and are often published online without review. However, these numbers suggest that we do have Broadcast clients who write, edit, and in some cases go through the review process outside of Composer, and then cutting and pasting finished work into the CMS.
